We just arrived and we desperately need...

There are two grocery stores on Sanibel Island that we're aware of, and they're both good, if a bit more expensive than off-island grocery stores.

Bailey's General Store, 2477 Periwinkle Way, baileys-sanibel.com
(239) 472-1516, 7am - 9pm Mon-Sun

Jerry's Foods, 1700 Periwinkle Way, jerrysfoods.com
(239) 472-9300, 6am - 10pm Mon-Sun

Both stores are quite good, and in particular Bailey's has a very good coffee bar and is a little bit closer to drive to (see the map below).

Bailey's also offers a grocery delivery service if you order at least 24 hours in advance, but they do charge a premium. You can find details on their website.

If you're staying with us in A21, you should have a "starter package" that includes a few coffee-packs -- a combined coffee filter & coffee grounds package to get you through your first couple of nights with us, before you might get the chance to go shopping. (If you don't, please let us know.)

Beyond that, I can direct you to the two grocery stores on the island, as well as the coffee bar at Bailey's for very good take-away coffee with a wide variety of options - espresso, cappuccino, and similar specialty drinks.

A drugstore

There are very few major chain stores on Sanibel, but there is a CVS about 3 minutes by car from our unit. A big advantage of the CVS is that they do not charge island prices for their products, but the same price you're going to find at any CVS in the Fort Myers area. If you forgot sunscreen, mosquito repellent, aloe gel, and/or a couple of golf hats, then there's no need for the 40-minute round-trip drive off-island to avoid spending an extra $10 or $20. Open 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM, 2331 Palm Ridge Road.

A meal delivered to our door

You've arrived too tired to do anything but collapse, snd you're hungry. Sanibel does not have a large number of delivery options that we're aware of, but there are at least two.

Island Pizza To Go(239) 472-1581. yelp, tripadvisor

Sanibel Deli & Coffee Factory, (239) 472-2555 yelp, tripadvisor

The pizza at Island Pizza is pretty good in our experience, and the two times they delivered, the food arrived on-time and as expected. Island Pizza also accepts credit cards for deliveries.

The food at Sanibel Deli is also quite good, but we haven't yet ordered delivery from them. The Deli does not accept credit cards at the time of delivery. (And if you are looking for gluten-free foods, the Deli is a good place for you.)
